The Detroit Improv Collective announced today the schedule for the 2014 Detroit Improv Festival to be held August 3rd - 10th in Ferndale and Detroit, Michigan. The expanded festival adds family shows, Detroit venues and new national headliners to the already popular event.
Chris Moody, President of Detroit Improv Collective says, "We wanted to celebrate the art of improv for an entire week and bring some of North America's best comedy talent to perform for our great citizens."
Highlights of this year's schedule include Fred Willard (Best in Show), Keegan-Michael Key (Key & Peele), Maribeth Monroe (Workaholics), Marc Evan Jackson (Brooklyn 99 & 22 Jump Street), Nyima Funk (Whose Line Is It Anyway?), Tim Robinson (SNL), Rachel Dratch (SNL), Kevin Dorf (Parks & Recreation), Tara DeFrancisco (Chicago iO), Mike O'Brien (SNL), Susan Messing (Chicago Annoyance Theatre), Norm Holly (Second City Chicago), and many others.
"This year's lineup really embodies the mission of the festival," says Keith Faigin, VP of DICo, "the performers are an excellent mix of current Detroiters, ex-patriots who are returning home and new folks who are experiencing the culture here for the first time."
Proceeds go to supporting the Detroit Improv Collective's mission to promote the benefits of improvisational comedy to encourage team building, goal setting and self-esteem. Also, one dollar from each ticket sold will be donated to Gilda's Club of Metro Detroit.
