Crowley resident first Tarrant County West Nile patient

Posted: Updated:
CROWLEY, Texas - Tarrant County public health officials confirmed the first human case of West Nile virus for the season.

The case is from Crowley and involves a form of the disease that is more severe.

The milder form is commonly referred to as West Nile fever, but West Nile Neuroinvasive Disease can be deadly.

Crowley officials said there are no plans for additional spraying because all traps in the city have had negative results.

The city believes the case was an isolated incident and that it is possible the patient contracted the disease elsewhere.

The case is still being investigated.
