CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A Far South Side man was held on $350,000 bond Thursday, charged with causing a crash that injured four people, three of them critically, in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood early Wednesday.

Dennis Ray Jackson, 33, faces one charge of aggravated DUI involving an accident that caused great bodily harm, according to a statement from Chicago Police. He was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, resisting a peace officer and issued two citations for failure to stop at a stop sign.

About 12:45 a.m., Jackson was driving eastbound in the 300 block of East 71st Street at a high speed, when he failed to stop at two stop signs and struck a vehicle traveling southbound on Calumet Avenue, police said.

Three male occupants of the other vehicle were taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Jackson, of the 10100 block of South Eberhart, tried to run away from the scene of the crash, but was apprehended and taken into custody, police said.

He is next scheduled to appear in court Monday.
