Two men have been charged in connection with the drowning of a 4-year-old boy who fell into a swimming pool in Clayton County.
Harold Carter, 59, and Robert Carter, 64, have been charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana along with distribution of marijuana. Both men admitted to being under the influence of marijuana at the time of Donovan Daniels death.
Clayton County Police were called out to an address on Winding Way Lane in Jonesboro Wednesday around 5:35 p.m., according to police.
The Clayton County Police Department says police officers, Clayton sheriff deputies and Jonesboro police officers all responded to the location and entered to pool to search for the child. According to police, after an 'intense search' the child was located in the swimming pool and removed.
Donovan Daniels was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
SKYFOX 5 flew over the home and captured images of the pool which appears green and murky.
FOX 5's Doug Evans spoke with Donovan's mother Thursday afternoon. She and her children are staying in metro Atlanta with family as well as friends until they can set up a permanent home.
Police say the drowning appears to be accidental, but they will continue to investigate the incident.
