Man uses scrap wood to craft stunning art

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Not too long ago, Chris Knight was the proverbial starving artist fighting to pay his bills. But last month, he made $40,000.

It’s all because he got his hands on some old, reclaimed wood.

Knight uses reclaimed wood from torn down barns across the state and turns them into state flags, sports logos and pop culture symbols. Now, the artist who fought to pay his bills is fighting to keep up with orders.

In fact, even mid-interview with Jake Hamilton, someone showed up to pick up an order.

The success of his work on Etsy has forced Knight to upgrade his entire operation, hiring a crew of eight to help him keep up with demand – and he’s looking to hire more.

The pieces range from as low as $25 to several thousands of dollars, proving that there’s something for everyone.

But for Knight, they’re all a reminder that anything is possible.
