Firefighter injured battling fire at abandoned Detroit church

DETROIT (WJBK) - A firefighter was injured while battling a fire at an abandoned church in Detroit Friday morning.

Fox 2 is told the firefighter got wrapped up in the fire hose and lose his footing. The firefighter is said to have injured his back, head and elbow. The firefighter was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.

The fire was near Vernor Highway and Coplin Street.

We're told no one was inside the building at the time the fire began.

The fire is under investigation.
