Kidsave hosts older orphans and foster kids to help them find permanent families

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Lots of children come to the Smithsonian's National Zoo with family. Some kids who were there on Monday are actually looking for a family.

Twelve-year-old Juan Camilo and 11-year-old Neila are among the 31 orphans brought from Colombia to the United States for the month of August with a plan to find them each a home.

The children all live in foster homes or orphanages. Sixteen of the kids are staying with host families in the D.C. metro area.

They are here through a program called "Summer Miracles." A non-profit called Kidsave hosts events where potential adoptive parents can meet the children. You can also learn about the kids on the website: http://www.kidsave.org/
