Funeral held for Greenwich teen killed in boating accident

Posted: Updated:

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - Hundreds of friends, classmates, neighbors and family members have attended the funeral of a 16-year-old Greenwich High School student killed in a boating accident last week.

Mourners gathered Monday at St. Clement Church in Stamford for to pay tribute to Emily Fedorko. The Greenwich Time reported that family friend Gary Dell'Abate eulogized her as a fierce competitor and generous friend.

Fedorko was killed and a 15-year-old girl injured while tubing on Long Island Sound last Wednesday. Police said Fedorko was struck by the propeller of a boat that had been towing the girls.

Police said it appeared the boat struck the girls after they fell off the tube and the boat driver turned around to get them. Authorities say the teenage girl who was driving the boat was licensed.
