CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A woman is facing several citations after her vehicle struck a telephone pole in the Humboldt Park neighborhood early Tuesday, ejecting and critically injuring her infant son.

Angelo Mingo, 26, was driving northbound in the 500 block of North Pulaski Road about 1:30 a.m. when the minivan hit a pole, police said.

Her 5-month-old son was ejected from the van and taken to Stroer Hospital in critical condition, police said. Mingo was also taken to Stroger, where her condition was stable.

Two other passengers in the van — a 23-year-old woman and 25-year-old man — were not hurt, police said.

Mingo, of the 5000 block of West Ferdinand, was cited for failure to stay in her lane, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance, no child safety restraint, and no valid driver's license, according to police.

The Police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
