Charlotte, NC -

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged Janie Lachelle Talley with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile for participating in the “Fire Challenge” with her son.

The video of Talley's son spread like wildfire after it was posted to Facebook back in July. Authorities say she was there and knew what her son was doing as he poured fingernail polish on his body and lit himself on fire. Detectives investigating the incident say that Talley even facilitated the recording.

Detectives say the other spectators attempted to out the fire. The 16-year-old victim sustained minor burns to his chest and neck area. He even took to Facebook with a response video cautioning others against taking this challenge. However, the response video has been moved from Facebook.

Facebook has recognized the danger of this activity and has removed similar online videos from their site to avoid any copycats.
