Man's Death In Center City Home Ruled Homicide

Posted: Updated:

A dead body found inside a Center City home has left investigators and a neighborhood looking for answers .

The mystery on Mole Street began Friday afternoon when a worker found a 65-year-old man dead.

Philadelphia police confirmed Monday to FOX 29 News that the death has been ruled a homicide. Police have identified the man as 65-year-old Lee Stanley.

Police said there were no signs of trauma to the body and no signs of a break in into the home.

But the position they said they found the body in, is what led police to initially call the death suspicious.

"It's very quiet, there's never any parties or anything going on so this was very weird and out of the ordinary for this block," neighbor Marie Capp said.

Police said a worker found a 65-year-old man dead on the first floor of his house on the 100 block of Mole Street around noon on Friday.

What time he died is unclear, but neighbors said they didn't hear anything out of the ordinary.

"Anytime there's a lot of noise on the street I hear it because I'm a very like soft sleeper and last night there was nothing," Leland Boisseau said.

Detectives spent several hours collecting evidence on the inside and outside of the victim's home last Friday.

They also dusted the front door for finger prints.

Neighbors said the man lived alone and mostly kept to himself.

Police and homicide detectives continue to investigate.

So far, the medical examiner has not given the cause of death.
