Michael Jordan takes Ice Bucket Challenge, calls out Dream Team

Posted: Updated:

As a player, Michael Jordan didn't just accept challenges—he lived for them. Those challenges, whether external or internal, drove him to become what many consider the greatest basketball player of all-time.

More than a decade removed from his playing days, Jordan's current challenge is building the Charlotte Hornets into a perennial playoff team. But that didn't stop baseball superstar Derek Jeter from offering Jordan a new challenge—the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

The New York Yankee shortstop posted his video completing the challenge on Tuesday evening. He's one of countless athletes and entertainers to complete the challenge, including Dale Earnhardt Jr. as well Panthers and Hornets players. Jordan was also called out by Ray Allen and David Beckham.

True to form, Jordan responded promptly by completing the challenge and issuing one of his own.

"I've challenged Phil Jackson, and my Dream Team teammates," Jordan said. "Cash...and ice bucket."

Jackson was the coach on Jordan's six-time NBA Champion Chicago Bulls squads. The 1992 USA Basketball team aka the Dream Team, included Hall of Famers like Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Charles Barkley as well as Jordan.
