A Fort Worth couple is searching for answers after they were carjacked and pulled by their car as the thief took off.
“It was horrible. At night I just think about it. It was horrible and it keeps running through my mind like a cassette. It is just running constantly,” said Laura Cantu Arellano.
She was waiting inside her car while her husband ran into a Fort Worth convenience store on Alta Mesa Boulevard.
Surveillance video shows someone hit her door. She got out to check on the damage and a man got out of the other car too. But Laura said when she looked up, she saw him getting in the driver's seat of her car.
“When my husband saw him sitting in the car he immediately dropped what he was doing and ran out of the store, got in the passenger's side and opened the door,” she said.
Laura and Juan Arellano were dragged as they tried to stop what was happening. They were pulled about 25 feet before the thief got away.
Workers who saw it called 911.
Juan said his injuries are so extensive he is unable to work at his construction job. He has to use a walker and Laura is on crutches. She has also been having blackouts and blurred vision since it happened.
“It comes to show us, don't take life for granted. Things happen,” Laura said.
She wants justice and for anyone who knows the man in the surveillance video to call police.
A man and woman who were inside the thief's car stayed after the carjacking. Police questioned and released them.
